Puerto de la Duquesa really is the Costa del Sol's best-kept secret.
Often described as "Andalucia's Hidden Jewel" it offers a laid back look at life in Southern Spain.
In a beautiful location to the west of Marbella this lovely resort has it all.
La Duquesa and Manilva Costa
La Duquesa is in the western municipality of the Costa del Sol, near its border with the Costa de la Luz. It is located between Estepona and Sotogrande, around 35 miles north of Gibraltar and 20 miles from Puerto Banus and Marbella.
La Duquesa still has a traditional working fishing port. Side by side with the yachts in the marina you will see fisherman unloading their daily catch, or repairing their nets ready for tomorrow. Blink and you could miss the tiny village of El Castillo, boasting a medieval castle, which now hosts a museum featuring artefacts depicting traditional local life. The museum also regularly plays host to cultural exhibitions.
Manilva is a renowned wine region, famous for its Moscatel grapes and sweet Manilva wine. In La Duquesa, you are never more than a ten minute walk away from farmers picking grapes in the surrounding vineyards. Venture up the hill away from the coast to the quaint white-washed village of Manilva to sample a taste of authentic Spain.
